During 18th to 22nd August 2025, Rajamangala University of Technology Srivijaya (RUTS) successfully hosted the RUTS and UUM Collaboration Camp 2025 (Tourism Camp) under the College of Hospitality and Tourism. The program was led by Asst. Prof. Fapilai Taweesinsopa and brought together 85 RUTS lecturers and students from the Faculty of Liberal Arts, the College of Industrial Technology and Management, and the College of Hospitality and Tourism. The camp was designed to enhance participantsβ knowledge, practical skills, and international perspectives in the field of tourism, while also promoting cultural exchange and sustainable practices.
On 19th August 2025, the camp was officially opened by Asst. Prof. Sittichoke Janyong, Vice President of RUTS, together with Dr. Lamun Kayurin, Assistant to the President and Leader of the International Collaboration C amp 2025. Both extended a warm welcome to all to all participants and emphasized the importance of academic collaboration and cultural understanding. Following the opening, participants joined an academic idea-sharing and brainstorming session, exchanging perspectives and developing creative solutions through collaborative discussions. In the afternoon, they engaged in recreational learning and environmental conservation by participating in a beach clean-up and nature collection activity at Chao Mai Beach. This activity not only fostered teamwork but also cultivated a sense of environmental responsibility and sustainability awareness.
On 20th August 2025, participants experienced community-based tourism at Bor Hin Farmstay, where they learned about local ways of living and sustainable tourism practices. They also joined a Batik Dyeing Workshop, gaining hand-on experience with traditional craftsmanship and cultural heritage. Later, students presented their Eco Reflection Showcase, where they shared creative insights and innovative ideas inspired by their interaction with nature and the local community. These activities enhanced participantsβ creativity, appreciation of cultural identity, and sustainable thinking.
On 21st August 2025, participants took part in skill-based and cultural enrichment activities, including a Thai Dessert Cooking session and a Thai Festival Craft Workshop. In addition, they participated in βDiscover Diving: Theory and Practice,β an activity that provided both theoretical understanding and practical diving experience, contributing to marine tourism knowledge. The evening featured colorful cultural performances, showcasing Thai traditions and strengthening cross-cultural appreciation among RUTS and UUM participants.
Finally, on 22nd August 2025, the camp concluded with the Student Project Pitch on Sustainable Marine Tourism, where participants presented innovative proposals that highlighted their learning throughout the program. The event was followed by the Closing Ceremony, which celebrated the successful completion of the camp and reaffirmed the shared commitment of RUTS and UUM to advancing sustainable tourism and fostering the next generation of ASEAN leaders.
