On May 15, 2025, during an official visit to Malaysia, an administrative delegation from Rajamangala University of Technology Srivijaya (RUTS), led by Professor Dr. Suwat Tanyaros, President of RUTS, paid a courtesy visit to Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM). The visit aimed to foster academic cooperation, explore joint research opportunities, and enhance mobility programs between the two institutions.

The RUTS delegation comprised Dr. Lamun Kayurin, Assistant to the President for International Affairs; Assoc. Prof. Surasit Rawangwong, Dean of the Faculty of Engineering; Asst. Prof. Chaiya Tanaphatsiri, Dean of the Faculty of Industrial Education and Technology; and Mrs. Suchada Jeensuksang, Head of the International Affairs Staff. The delegation was warmly received by UiTM’s Rector, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ahmad Nizan Mai Noor, along with top administrators and key academic staff members.

The visit featured comprehensive academic discussions with UiTM’s Faculty of Built Environment in Perlis, focusing on collaboration in survey engineering with the Faculty of Engineering at RUTS. Key proposed areas of collaboration included:

• Student exchange programs, including Joint Survey Camps, Hands-On Training, and Course Sharing

• Teaching staff exchange, including Guest Lectures, Staff Observation, and Module Planning

• Practical training collaboration, including Joint Survey Camps and Short Training Programs

As a starting point, both institutions agreed to organize a Hydro and Survey Engineering Camp, planned for late 2025 or early 2026.

Another important focus of the discussions was the development of an International Accounting Workshop, in collaboration between the Faculty of Accountancy at UiTM Perlis and the Accounting Program under the Faculty of Business and Administration at RUTS. Both parties expressed interest in designing the workshop to meet international standards and industry requirements, with particular emphasis on academic mobility, co-teaching, and collaborative research.

In addition, the delegation discussed scholarship opportunities for postgraduate studies, aiming to support qualified students and staff from both institutions in pursuing advanced degrees in Malaysia and Thailand. These initiatives reflect the shared vision of RUTS and UiTM to promote academic excellence, global engagement, and sustainable human capital development.

This visit marked a significant milestone in strengthening institutional ties between RUTS and UiTM. Both universities reaffirmed their commitment to long-term collaboration in education, research, and innovation.
