On May 16, 2025, a delegation from Rajamangala University of Technology Srivijaya (RUTS), led by Professor Dr. Suwat Tanyaros, President of RUTS, visited Universiti Malaysia Perlis (UniMAP) to further strengthen academic cooperation between the two institutions. The main purpose of the visit was to discuss the establishment of an exchange program for visiting lecturers and the potential for credit transfer in future academic programs, particularly starting in the academic year 2026.
The RUTS delegation included Dr. Lamun Kayurin, Assistant to the President for International Affairs; Assoc.Prof. Surasit Rawangwong, Dean of the Faculty of Engineering; Asst. Prof.Chaiya Tanaphatsiri, Dean of the Faculty of Industrial Education and Technology; and Mrs. Suchada Jeensuksang, Head of the International Affairs Staff. The delegation was welcomed by UniMAP’s Vice Chancellor, Yang Berbahagia Dato’ Prof. Ts. Dr. Zaliman Sauli together with Prof. Ir. Dr. Mohd Shukry Abdul Majid, Deputy Vice Chancellor (Academic & International), administrators and representatives from relevant faculties.
A key discussion point was the plan to upgrade existing collaborative camps, such as the International Smart Farm Camp, into academic programs eligible for credit transfer in 2026. This initiative reflects both universities’ commitment to integrating international experiential learning into formal curricula, enhancing student engagement and academic value.
As part of the visit, the RUTS team also participated in the Closing Ceremony of the RUTS & UniMAP International Collaboration Camp 2025 (Smart Farm Camp). This camp brought together students and lecturers from both institutions to engage in applied learning, interdisciplinary problem-solving, and the development of sustainable agriculture technologies. The ceremony celebrated the successful outcomes of the week-long program and emphasized the importance of ongoing collaboration in addressing real-world challenges through academic innovation and regional cooperation.
This visit illustrated the strong partnership between RUTS and UniMAP, paving the way for expanded academic exchange, joint programs, and integrated international learning experiences in the years to come.
